DTG — Direct-to-Garment

Photo-quality printing with unlimited colors and incredible detail. Perfect for complex designs and smaller orders.

T-shirt with detailed full-color DTG print featuring a photo design

Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing uses specialized inkjet technology to print designs directly onto fabric. Like a high-end paper printer, DTG can reproduce full-color images, photographs, and intricate designs with remarkable detail. The water-based inks absorb into the fabric fibers, creating a soft, breathable print with no heavy feel.

Unlimited Colors, Incredible Detail

DTG shines when you have detailed artwork, photographs, or designs with many colors and gradients. There are no color limits and no setup fees — your 50-color design costs the same as a 2-color design. The print has a soft hand feel because the ink becomes part of the fabric rather than sitting on top. This makes DTG ideal for fashion-forward apparel where print feel matters.

Perfect for Small Orders

DTG is priced consistently regardless of how many colors your design contains, making it ideal for complex artwork and smaller order quantities. While the per-piece cost is higher than volume screen printing, DTG has no setup charges, making it cost-effective for orders under 24 pieces or designs that would be impractical to screen print.

When to Choose DTG

Choose DTG when you have detailed designs, photographs, or artwork with many colors or gradients. It's excellent for small orders, one-off pieces, and designs where a soft print feel is important. DTG performs best on 100% cotton garments.

Frequently Asked Questions

There's no minimum — you can order even a single piece. DTG is specifically well-suited for small orders where traditional screen printing isn't cost-effective.

Yes. DTG excels at reproducing photographs and complex images with smooth gradients and fine details. The quality approaches what you'd expect from photo printing on paper.

DTG works best on 100% cotton garments. Cotton-polyester blends (50/50 or higher cotton content) also work well. Pure polyester or synthetic fabrics are not recommended for DTG — consider AccuPrint or sublimation instead.

With proper care, DTG prints last well through regular washing. Wash inside-out in cold water and avoid high heat drying to maximize longevity. The prints may soften slightly over time but won't crack or peel.

DTG doesn't have the economies of scale that screen printing offers. Each piece is printed individually. However, DTG has no setup costs, making it actually more economical for small orders or designs with many colors.

Yes. For dark garments, we first apply a white base layer, then print your design on top. This ensures colors appear vibrant and accurate on any garment color.

DTG orders typically ship within 5-7 business days. Since there's no screen setup required, turnaround is often faster than screen printing for comparable quantities.
